Born in 1973 and graduated from RMIT University in Melbourne. Lok Kerk Hwang started learning watercolour and sketches at the age of 15 from his high school teacher Mr. T K Chang in Batu Pahat. He subsequently obtained Diploma in Graphic Design from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), Singapore; and then Bachelor of Arts in Advertising (Creative) from RMIT University, Australia. As Signature Member of Canadian Society of Painters in Water Color (CSPWC) and Federation of Canadian Artists (AFCA), Member of Singapore Watercolor Society (SWS), The Singapore Art Society (SAS) & Penang Water Color Society (PWCS), his watercolor talent is recognized by many prestige competitions and exhibitions locally and aboard. |
A person who loves life and painting, he is especially sensitive to the charms and beauty of sunlight and shadow. His paintings show not only his skill on watercolor, but also his view about life. What he described is familiar to everyone - he always has his eyes opened for something that is neglected by most people, and then he digs up its hidden beauty. Through his technical competence, he gives these subjects a presence and quality which intrigue us. He highlights surronding beauty, reshuffles the structure and then forms the color. His paintings actually remind us to devote time for beauty right next to us. |
